Visits

I went to go painting Sunday afternoon and on the spur of the moment, turned down the road to my uncle's house, wondering if I might set up and do a painting of his barn.  As I neared his place I saw a Suburban in his driveway, so I started slowly past wondering who he had for company. The license plate was from TN so I immediately knew it was my cousin and his wife. So I stopped to visit for a bit.

Monday my sister came from NY to visit for a few days. We went shopping yesterday, and shopped til we dropped, which really didn't take near as long as it used to years ago......  :) I have been trying to get my place more organized so that everything is in its own place. I got a couple little 3 drawer stack bins to use in my sewing room. Sis and I are getting all my sewing supplies and quilting material sorted out.

We also went to a couple cemeteries this afternoon and found our great-grandmother's and our grandmother's graves. We hadn't been there for many, many years, probably since we were kids. Then we went to the one where our parents are buried. Sure brings back memories, some that we had even forgotten. I have to say that I am glad for the childhood I had and how our parents taught us we had to work to make our lives count for something. We didn't have it easy but we had enough. And we were loved. I am also proud to say I have handed that work ethic down to my kids and I even see it in my grandchildren that that are graduated from school and have jobs. All of them are hard workers. I am so proud of them all.

My sister and I are taking a trip to Pittsburgh to see my son in the hospital tomorrow. I will only be making a couple more trips down because he gets released mid-September!! Yeah!!! I promised him I'd stop and get him a Sub*Way sub on the way down. But it was a toss-up for him between that and the stuffed peppers I made for supper tonight. But he knows he can get stuffed peppers another time, too!

Ya'll take care.

  1. What a great excuse for no painting. The librarian in me demands a place for everything and everything in it's place. I only wish I had enough room to make that happen. I know how great you will feel to have everything organized. The closest I can come is a huge basket for my craft supplies and another for my art supplies and stacking bins for fabric. I do like those small stacking drawers for knives or brushes or any other item I have too much of.
Enjoy your trip with your sister!

  4. Sounds like great fun hanging out with your sister. Getting organized always helps keep thing neat and at hand.

Good news about your son. I know getting home will speed up his recovery even more. And it sounds like he isn't having issues with eating. :)That is a very good sign of recovery.

  5. I would have chosen the stuffed peppers. Were they grown from your garden? Glad he'll be getting out soon!

  6. PS, when I was home, we did a bit of graveyard walking too. My sister is into the ancestory stuff, so she knows so much family history. It was like she had met & knew some of the family members that were gone before we were born! Odd feeling.
