Cold? ....naw.

Cold  to me is milking 6 goats morning and night in a 2 week long spell of  -17* weather, breaking up the ice in their water buckets, refilling, and hoping they drank enough before it froze again.

Cold   is waking up to find out your fuel oil furnace ran out during the night, and your 6 month old baby girl had soaked through her diaper, nightgown, AND blankets. Temp in the old cold house?  0*

Cold   is a house catching on fire at 1:00 am on Jan 4th 1978 in the  dead of winter in PA; and handing your 5 kids a coat to throw over themselves as they ran out the door to safety.

Cold ..... is also the unexpected death of a spouse, who had always been there to lean on; after 32+ years of marriage.

Some wonder why I smile alot (and I do). Its because, through the hard times you learn to smile so you don't cry. Its also because I know who holds tomorrow....... and that warms my heart!

However, I write this as I sit in my rig tonight at 65* indoors temp..... shivering. :-)
 Funny what age does.....
Brother, Deaf Ranger, and I after a 4-whlr ride in the desert.

Ranger just told me it is supposed to be in the teens tonight... oh my!
Have a blessed day tomorrow! and of course, stay warm!!!

It is amazing what we can tolerate, when we are grateful for what we do have. :)

I'm sitting at my computer with two sweaters, a down vest, a jacket and a scarf and a knit hat, and thinking about mid-August when this place was like a sauna. I guess it all evens out in the end.

Yep, for sure! Yesterday it was over 60* here in Western NY. By next weekend we will be down to single digits! Go figure. Saw lots of bikes (motorcycles) out yesterday. Unfortunalely mine was not one of them. Too busy with other things. Sigh...

Loved your post, Sunny! You are so right!

Sounds like you are staying busy there between your Bro and your painting. So it sounds like you're heading out soon. I'm keeping up with your paintings - you've got more stick-to-it-iveness than me. I think you SHOULD get out and see everything you can while there! Happy trails!

naw... after reading this ... I'm not cold ... It's 37º - cold and wet.

Inspirational post, Sunny ;) - I know it's no comfort but to have had 32+ years with someone you loved is something a lot of us have never and will never experience.

Milking goats in -17º weather??? oh, man?!

oh, lord a baby girl soaked in 0º weather AND your house on fire with five kids!??! good freakin lord! naw ... I'm not cold

Beautiful post, sunny, Your smile gives so much strength to those who have seen you go through these many trials, and what a wonderful encouraging testimony letting them know that they too can make it with a smile!
Stay warm! snuggle close to those fur babies.
Hugs,
Sue

The reason you can withstand that harsh cold so much is because your heart is so warm........even when it is breaking. Prayers for you because I know it is painful to lose the one you love. No matter how much time as passed. Stay warm!
